President Muizzu condemns Israeli aggression at Arab-Islamic Summit, declares attack on Qatar an attack on all

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 4 hours ago

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu delivered a powerful address at the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, voicing the Maldives’ firm condemnation of Israel’s recent attack on Qatar and reaffirming unwavering solidarity with the Qatari people.

Speaking before regional leaders, President Muizzu stressed that the assault on Doha was not only an attack on Qatar’s sovereignty but also a direct affront to the dignity of the entire Arab and Islamic world. He described the strike as a “deliberate, calculated assault on peace itself,” aimed at punishing Qatar for its tireless mediation efforts in Gaza.

Standing with Qatar and Palestine

President Muizzu declared that “an attack on Qatar is an attack on us all” underscoring that the Maldives stands shoulder to shoulder with the Qatari leadership and people. He highlighted Qatar’s pivotal role in advocating peace and humanitarian relief for Palestinians, warning that Israel’s aggression seeks to destabilize the wider region and extinguish hopes for peace.

In his remarks, the President strongly denounced Israel’s continued violations—from the illegal occupation of Palestinian lands and denial of humanitarian aid, to the targeting of civilians, doctors, and journalists. He accused Israel of weaponizing fear and normalizing brutality, stressing that the Maldives rejects such “crimes against humanity” and stands steadfast for justice and human dignity.

Call for Unity and Action

President Muizzu urged Arab and Islamic nations to move beyond words and transform outrage into coordinated action. He called for:

  • Legal accountability for Israel through international courts.
  • Collective political, economic, and diplomatic measures until Israel complies with international law.
  • Greater unity within the Islamic Ummah to ensure no nation faces aggression alone.
  • Immediate expansion of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank, while strengthening Qatar’s mediation efforts.

A Defining Moment for the Islamic World

Framing the summit as a historic turning point, President Muizzu declared: “Let this be the day we rise together to say: enough of occupation, enough of aggression, enough of impunity”. He stressed that the cause of Qatar and Palestine is shared by all nations committed to peace, justice, and sovereignty.

Concluding his speech, President Muizzu prayed for unity among Muslim nations and victory for justice and peace across the region.
