Venomous Cone Snails Spotted at Rasfannu Beach

Rasfannu Beach, a popular spot in Malé City, has recently witnessed sightings of venomous cone snails, prompting a safety advisory from marine experts. These marine creatures, integral to the Maldivian fauna, generally emerge to the surface during dusk.

Marine biologists has advised beachgoers to exercise caution by wearing swimming shoes, particularly for children. It is recommended to swim and avoid walking barefoot through the lagoon. The potential danger posed by cone snails varies with their species and size; encounters can range from mildly uncomfortable to highly venomous or even deadly.

Visitors are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to the safety guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience at Rasfannu Beach.
