By Ahmed Ashraf Published February 24, 2025

In a significant move to enhance banking accessibility, Bank of Maldives (BML) has launched new self-service banking ATMs across multiple islands, with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurating several of these facilities.

On February 24, 2025, President Muizzu inaugurated a self-service banking ATM at Dh. Bandidhoo. BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Mohamed Shareef, highlighted the bank’s dedication to expanding services, stating, “The new ATM will enable Bandidhoo residents to conduct banking on their island, saving time and travel costs.”

Earlier, on November 7, 2024, President Muizzu initiated a comprehensive project aiming to install ATMs on all inhabited islands by the end of 2025. This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, seeks to establish over 250 ATMs nationwide, ensuring all Maldivians have access to modern banking services.

Recent ATMs, inaugurated by President Muizzu, is part of the “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” project, focusing on nationwide service enhancement. In Kudahuvadhoo, the bank not only installed a new self-service ATM but also commenced construction of a new branch, aiming to provide comprehensive banking services to the community.

These developments underscore BML’s strategic efforts to bring convenient banking solutions closer to Maldivian communities, reflecting a broader national objective of financial inclusivity.
