Foreign Ministry Activates Monitoring Cell for Maldivians in Pakistan

By Ahmed Ashraf Published May 8, 2025

As geopolitical tensions rise in South Asia, the Maldivian government has ramped up efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens residing in Pakistan, particularly students enrolled in various educational institutions across the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the Maldives High Commission in Islamabad, is closely observing the unfolding situation. In a recent statement, the Ministry affirmed its commitment to taking all necessary measures to safeguard Maldivian nationals in Pakistan. Officials have indicated readiness to assist citizens should the security landscape deteriorate further.

Despite the heightened alert, Pakistani authorities have informed the Maldivian High Commission that educational institutions and offices continue to operate normally. Nevertheless, Maldivian citizens in Pakistan are urged to remain vigilant, adhere to local advisories, and maintain regular contact with diplomatic missions.
