Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Ibrahim Shiuree, has been elected as a board member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), one of Asia’s most prominent tourism organizations.

Shiuree’s appointment to the PATA Board was secured through a voting process conducted among the association’s member governments, based on nominations submitted by members.

The PATA Board comprises seven representatives from across the region, with Shiuree joining distinguished members from Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.

Founded in 1951, PATA serves as a leading platform for fostering sustainable tourism growth and collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region. The organization boasts 95 member countries and hosts the prestigious PATA Annual Summit, a global event that gathers key stakeholders in the travel and tourism industry. PATA also organizes highly regarded awards that recognize excellence in tourism-related initiatives.

Shiuree’s election highlights the growing influence of the Maldives on the global tourism stage and underscores the MMPRC’s active role in promoting the country as a premier travel destination. His position on the PATA Board is expected to further strengthen Maldives’ presence in shaping tourism policies and fostering partnerships within the Asia-Pacific region.
