MATATO’s AGM Secures President Ghiyas for Another Term with New Exco

The Maldives Association for Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has introduced a refreshed logo and confirmed the re-election of Abdullah Giyas Riyaz as the president during their Annual General Meeting (AGM). Held last night at Manhattan Business School, the AGM saw the unanimous approval of the new logo and executive board by all 21 members in attendance.

In financial matters, MATATO reported an income of 2.03 million rufiyaa for the past year, against expenditures of 1.86 million rufiyaa. For the current fiscal year, they project an income of 2.23 million rufiyaa with expenses expected to reach 2.05 million rufiyaa. Looking ahead, the association estimates an income of 2.44 million rufiyaa for the following year, alongside projected expenditures of 2.25 million rufiyaa.

The AGM also marked the launch of MATATO’s new website, inaugurated by Ibrahim Faisal, Minister of Tourism.

The newly elected board members are as follows:

– President: Abdullah Giyas Riyaz

– Vice Presidents: Mohamed Khaleel and Mohamed Shaaz Waleed

– Secretary General: Abdullah Suood

– Treasurer: Ibrahim Didi

– Board Members: Ahmed Arshad, Mohamed Mauroof, Ignaz Mauroof, Ibrahim Nizam, Assad Riza

Founded in 2006 by a group of visionaries, MATATO aims to enhance the Maldivian tourism sector through unity and cooperation. As a significant player in developing tourism in the Maldives, MATATO is internationally recognized and serves as the PATA Chapter in Maldives within the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), one of the world’s largest travel associations.
