MMPRC and PSM Collaborate to Boost Maldives Tourism with New TV Channel

By Hussain Shinan Published February 18, 2025

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Public Service Media (PSM) have joined forces to promote the country’s tourism sector through a new collaboration aimed at reaching a wider international audience. The partnership was officially announced during a ceremony marking the launch of PSM’s programs for the upcoming Ramadan.

At the ceremony, a significant agreement was signed by PSM Managing Director Ibrahim Nasreen and MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree. This collaboration will focus on enhancing the visibility of the Maldives as a premier tourist destination, both locally and globally.

In a notable addition to the event, PSM also unveiled Maldives TV, the country’s first destination TV channel, designed to showcase the stunning natural beauty of the Maldives. The channel aims to provide a dynamic platform for promoting the nation’s picturesque landscapes, pristine beaches, and world-class resorts, specifically targeting international tourists.

The channel’s launch was officiated by Minister of Tourism and Environment, Thorig Ibrahim, who highlighted the importance of this new initiative in reaching the country’s tourism goals. In his address, Minister Thorig expressed optimism about the impact of the new TV channel, especially in light of ongoing efforts to promote the Maldives as a top global tourist destination.

“The launch of Maldives TV comes at a perfect time,” said Minister Thorig. “This platform will serve as a valuable tool in our collective efforts to promote the destination. We are confident that this initiative will help us reach our goal of attracting 2.3 million tourists this year.”

The collaboration between MMPRC and PSM, coupled with the launch of Maldives TV, is expected to provide a significant boost to the country’s tourism sector, reinforcing its image as a premier tropical destination. With this initiative, the government and media organizations are hopeful that the Maldives will see increased international interest and ultimately achieve its tourism targets for the year.
