President Dr. Muizzu Extends Independence Day Greetings to The Gambia

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm greetings to the President of The Gambia, His Excellency Adama Barrow, as well as the government and people of The Gambia, on the occasion of their Independence Day.

In his message, President Dr. Muizzu conveyed the heartfelt felicitations of the Maldivian government and its people, marking the historic day celebrated annually on February 18. He also expressed his personal best wishes for President Barrow’s continued good health and happiness, along with aspirations for the prosperity and progress of the Gambian people.

The Gambia, a West African nation, gained independence from British colonial rule on February 18, 1965. The occasion is commemorated each year with national celebrations, reflecting the country’s journey towards self-governance and development.

The exchange of diplomatic courtesies on national occasions underscores the strong ties between nations, and the Maldives continues to foster warm bilateral relations with The Gambia and other global partners.
