President Muizzu’s Leadership in Action: Rasfannu Revived, More Upgrades on the Way!

By Ahmed Ashraf Published March 6, 2025

In a decisive move to enhance public spaces in Malé, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited Rasfannu Beach on Thursday to assess ongoing renovation efforts and officially reopened the area for public use during the Ramadan. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to revitalizing essential recreational sites for the residents of the capital.

During his visit, President Muizzu inspected the progress of the redevelopment project and evaluated temporary measures implemented to ensure public safety. The immediate refurbishments included leveling the beach sand, removing accumulated silt, and repairing damaged beach huts, tables, chairs, and shower facilities. These swift actions have restored the beach’s accessibility, allowing residents to enjoy the space during the holy month.

Looking beyond Ramadan, the President outlined a comprehensive plan for further enhancements at Rasfannu. Post-Ramadan, the administration intends to construct additional bathroom facilities and renovate the existing fishing platform, aiming to provide long-term solutions that cater to the community’s needs. This plan reflects a broader strategy to improve public areas, including the historic Sultan Park.

This recent visit follows President Muizzu’s earlier inspection of Rasfannu and Sultan Park in February, where he expressed deep concern over their deteriorated conditions. Accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and their youngest child, the President described the state of these sites as “saddening” and pledged to restore their beauty and functionality. Both locations, developed during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration with Muizzu serving as Housing Minister, have suffered from inadequate maintenance over the years.

The administration’s proactive approach to restoring these vital public spaces demonstrates a renewed dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Malé’s residents. As these projects unfold, the community eagerly anticipates the revitalization of Rasfannu Beach and Sultan Park, reaffirming their status as cherished urban sanctuaries.
