President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, at the Sheraton Doha Hotel today, in a pivotal engagement that underscored the Maldives’ unwavering commitment to Islamic unity and regional stability.
During the meeting, President Muizzu extended heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of lives from the recent Israeli attack on Qatar. He strongly condemned the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, pledging the Maldives’ full solidarity with the Qatari people and government.
The President commended Qatar’s leadership in hosting the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit and highlighted Doha’s vital role in global mediation efforts and humanitarian support for Palestine. He reiterated the Maldives’ deep appreciation for Qatar’s longstanding assistance in diverse areas of national development.
Both leaders held discussions on strengthening bilateral relations, with President Muizzu expressing gratitude for Qatar’s continuous support in key sectors. They agreed to enhance cooperation across multiple fields of mutual interest, reflecting the shared vision for prosperity and stability.
Concluding the meeting, President Muizzu and His Highness Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed their dedication to deepening Maldives–Qatar relations. They stressed the importance of unity within the Muslim Ummah and pledged joint efforts to uphold international law while advancing a just and peaceful two-state solution for Palestine, ensuring the Palestinian people’s right to sovereignty and self-determination.
