First in Years: President Muizzu Opens Official Student Camping Site at CROSSROADS Maldives

By Ahmed Ashraf Published October 11, 2025

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the official student camping ground at CROSSROADS Maldives — a landmark initiative aimed at revitalizing outdoor education and youth development in the country.

The newly developed facility provides a dedicated space for school cadets, girl guides, and scouts to engage in camping, leadership exercises, and experiential learning. It will also function as a venue for academic research and field-based studies, offering students a rare opportunity to learn beyond the classroom in a structured environment.

Speaking at the event, President Muizzu underscored the government’s commitment to nurturing youth discipline and leadership through national cadet and scouting programs. The establishment of this facility marks the first designated student camping area in the Greater Malé Region in many years — a long-awaited step toward enhancing holistic education and national youth programs.

Following the inauguration, the President toured the site and interacted with representatives from various student organizations. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Education, senior Cabinet members, and officials from the Cadet Corps, Girl Guides, and Scout Associations, reflecting broad institutional support for the initiative.

The government views this project as part of a larger vision to strengthen youth empowerment and education through practical experiences, fostering unity, resilience, and patriotism among the next generation of Maldivians.
