By Ahmed Ashraf Published 16 hours ago

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, First Lady Sajidha Mohamed reflected on the courage and unity that define the Maldivian spirit, marking the anniversary of Victory Day.

“November 3rd proves the courage and bravery of Maldivians. It demonstrates their love and loyalty to the nation and religion. It shows that there will always be determined children in this soil who are ready to sacrifice their lives and blood,” she wrote.

Emphasizing national solidarity, the First Lady described Maldivians as “faithful and united people” who stand firm in every national cause.

Concluding her message, she prayed for “perpetual victory, fortune, prosperity, and peace” across the nation, extending her warm congratulations to all Maldivians on this historic day.

Victory Day is observed annually to commemorate November 3, 1988, when Maldivian soldiers and civilians bravely defended the country against an armed coup attempt by mercenaries. The day stands as a powerful reminder of national unity, sacrifice, and the enduring resolve of the Maldivian people to protect their independence and sovereignty.
