With this addition, BML customers can now choose from multiple OTP delivery options—WhatsApp, SMS, Authenticator, or Email—when verifying transactions. The new system is designed to streamline access to essential services while maintaining the highest security standards.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef stated, “We are committed to providing our customers with innovative and secure solutions while catering to the growing demand for digital banking. By enabling WhatsApp as an OTP channel, we are making it even easier for our customers to access essential banking services safely and conveniently.”
Customers can activate the WhatsApp OTP option by updating their preferences via Internet Banking or the BML Mobile Banking App. The setup process requires authentication through an existing OTP channel, ensuring enhanced security and protection against unauthorized access.
The move reinforces BML’s position as a leader in digital banking transformation across the Maldives, aligning with the institution’s continued efforts to deliver secure, customer-centric financial solutions.
