Velana International Airport’s newly developed Passenger Terminal 1 has officially commenced services for HiSky, marking another milestone in the Maldives’ expanding international aviation network.

A special inauguration ceremony was held today at Terminal 1 to mark the start of HiSky’s operations. The event was attended by key industry representatives, including Ali Shakir, Group General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering, along with senior officials from the aviation and ground handling sectors.

Participants at the ceremony included Ignaz Mansoor, Deputy General Manager of Voyagers, representatives from HiSky, and senior management from Maldives Airports Company Limited, which operates Velana International Airport.

As part of the inaugural operations, HiSky’s first flight to Terminal 1, flight H4-8569, arrived carrying 222 passengers. The passengers were accorded a traditional Maldivian welcome upon arrival, reflecting the country’s signature hospitality and cultural heritage.
With the addition of HiSky, Terminal 1 is now providing services to a total of 38 international airlines. MACL has reiterated that its objective is to deliver comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality services to all airlines operating in the Maldives, while supporting the country’s continued growth as a leading global tourism destination.
The commencement of HiSky’s services further strengthens air connectivity to the Maldives and underscores the strategic role of Terminal 1 in accommodating rising passenger volumes and diversifying airline partnerships.
