Suspect arrested for trespassing inside STELCO building

A 45-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trespassing into a facility operated by the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) on Bodufengandu Magu.

Police confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody yesterday after entering a STELCO substation. He was subsequently presented before the Criminal Court, which ordered that he be remanded in custody for five days pending further investigation.

According to information presented during the closed hearing, the man told the court that he had entered the premises in an attempt to collect moringa leaves from a tree located within the compound.

Authorities said the suspect is facing charges related to trespassing and theft. Court records indicate that he has been arrested on several previous occasions.

During the hearing, the man requested legal representation. The court granted the request and allowed him access to a lawyer.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
