Families Invited to Dhiraagu GudiFest Today 5:00–6:00 PM at Hulhumalé Phase 2 Beach

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 13 hours ago

Dhiraagu is hosting its Ramadan community event GudiFest in Hulhumalé today, inviting families and children to gather for an evening celebrating the traditional Maldivian pastime of kite flying.

The event is taking place this evening from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dhiraagu Beach in Hulhumalé Phase 2, where children attending the festival will receive a complimentary kite from Dhiraagu to participate in the activity.

GudiFest has quickly become a popular Ramadan event. The first gathering of this year’s series was held last Friday at Usfasgandu in Malé, attracting strong participation and widespread public support. With the Hulhumalé edition scheduled for today, Dhiraagu aims to recreate the same festive atmosphere by bringing families together for an hour of outdoor fun.

Originally launched in 2023, Dhiraagu GudiFest was designed to revive and promote the traditional Dhivehi practice of kite flying during Ramadan evenings. The company continues to organize the festival across multiple locations in the Maldives each year, encouraging younger generations to engage with cultural traditions that have long been part of Maldivian childhood.

Beyond telecommunications services, Dhiraagu regularly runs public events and promotions during Ramadan, positioning itself as an active supporter of community engagement and cultural preservation. Through initiatives like GudiFest, the company seeks to highlight local heritage while creating family-friendly experiences across the country.

Today’s event in Hulhumalé is expected to attract large numbers of children and parents looking to enjoy the Ramadan evening outdoors with kites, sea breeze, and community spirit.
