Fenaka Corporation has strengthened electricity supply in HA. Kelaa with the installation and commissioning of a new 600-kilowatt generator, marking a significant step in improving power reliability for residents of the northern island.
The generator was delivered to Kelaa earlier last week and successfully connected to the island’s electricity network following a series of technical tests. After completing the testing phase, the unit was officially integrated into the power grid yesterday.
With the addition of the new generator, the island’s total power generation capacity has now increased to 1,000kW, significantly enhancing Fenaka’s ability to maintain a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply for households and businesses.
The upgrade is part of Fenaka’s broader efforts to modernize electricity infrastructure across the Maldives, particularly in outer islands where demand for power continues to grow due to expanding communities and increasing economic activity.
In line with this initiative, the state utility confirmed that four additional brand-new generators were dispatched to different islands last week. Installation and commissioning work for those units are currently underway as the company continues to strengthen energy security and improve service quality nationwide.
Fenaka has been carrying out similar capacity upgrades across multiple islands in recent months as part of national efforts to ensure reliable and sustainable electricity services throughout the archipelago.
