MMA Appeals for Rare Photographs to Document Its Institutional History

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 13 hours ago

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has invited the public to submit historical photographs related to the institution as part of preparations for a publication documenting its history.

In an announcement issued by the central bank, the MMA said it is currently compiling archival materials for a book that will chronicle the authority’s development and milestones since its establishment. The publication aims to preserve and showcase visual records that highlight the evolution of the Maldives’ monetary and financial system.

According to the MMA, photographs submitted by individuals or organizations may be included in the publication. The authority noted that any images selected for use will be subject to an agreement with the respective owners.

The central bank has encouraged anyone who possesses historical photographs connected to the MMA or its activities to contribute to the initiative. These materials could provide valuable insights into the institution’s early operations, events, and key moments in the Maldives’ financial history.

Submissions can be sent via email to [email protected] before 15:00 on March 24, 2026. The MMA stated that contributions from the public will help enrich the historical record and ensure the publication accurately reflects the authority’s legacy.
