Anglo Belgian Corporation has announced that it will supply five powerful 8DL36 generating sets for the Central Power Station project in Addu City, under an agreement signed between Definit Solutions and Fenaka Corporation.
In a statement, the Belgian manufacturer said the five generator sets will deliver a combined capacity of 26 megawatts, forming the core power generation system of the new Addu Central Power Station. The project is expected to significantly strengthen electricity production in the southernmost atoll of the Maldives.
Definit Solutions is acting as the official agent of Anglo Belgian Corporation in the Maldives and has signed the contract with Fenaka Corporation, the state-owned utility responsible for electricity, water, and sewerage services across island communities in the country.
According to the company, the equipment will be installed in Addu Atoll, where it will contribute to reliable and efficient power generation for the region.
Local agency coordination and engineering implementation for the engines and the development of the new powerhouse will be handled by Mr. Saeed, who will serve as the local agency representative and engineer overseeing the technical aspects of the project in coordination with Fenaka. His role will be key in ensuring the smooth installation, integration, and operation of the new power generation systems. Mr. Saeed brings extensive engineering experience from projects carried out in both the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates.
Once completed, the Central Power Station is expected to deliver a total generation capacity of around 26.37 megawatts, providing a long-term solution to electricity demand in Addu City.
The project also aligns with a broader pledge by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to strengthen power infrastructure and address electricity challenges faced by residents and businesses in Addu.
