The President’s Office has announced that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed will host their traditional Eid al-Fitr greeting at the President’s official residence, Mulee’aage, continuing a long-standing practice observed by Maldivian leaders during the Islamic holiday.
According to a statement released by the President’s Office, the Eid greeting — commonly known as Eid Salaam — will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on the morning of Eid al-Fitr. The event will be held at Mulee’aage, located in the capital city of Malé.
The presidential couple has extended an open invitation to the public to attend the gathering. The event is expected to bring together members of the public, government officials, foreign diplomats, and representatives from businesses and private organisations, reflecting the inclusive and celebratory spirit of the occasion.
In its announcement, the President’s Office also encouraged families, children, and young people to participate in the Eid festivities, highlighting the importance of community and togetherness during the holiday.
Attendees are advised to enter Mulee’aage through the main gate on Medhuziyaaraiy Magu, which will serve as the designated access point for visitors attending the greeting.
Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar. Based on current astronomical projections, Eid is expected to fall this coming Friday, although the official date will be confirmed following the sighting of the new moon.
The annual Eid greeting at Mulee’aage has traditionally served as an opportunity for citizens and officials alike to meet the President and First Lady, exchange greetings, and celebrate the festival in a spirit of unity and goodwill.
