By Hussain Shinan Published April 9, 2026

The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) will conduct a survey tomorrow (April 10, 2026) across various areas of Greater Malé regarding the funds sent abroad by expatriates working in the Maldives.

This survey is specifically targeted at expatriate workers living in the country. It is being conducted to gather essential data required for the compilation of Balance of Payments statistics.

The information collected through this survey will include the methods used by expatriate workers to send money, the frequency of their remittances, and the average amounts sent.
