Maldives’ Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam has been awarded the 2026 Diplomat of the Year for Asia and Oceania title by Diplomat Magazine.
The announcement was made by Diplomat Magazine through a social media post, which stated that Iruthisham received the recognition for her work while serving as the Maldives’ Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Until her appointment as Foreign Minister earlier this month, Iruthisham had been serving as the Maldives’ Ambassador to the United Kingdom, where she played a central role in managing bilateral relations between Malé and London.
She was appointed as Foreign Minister as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s recent cabinet reshuffle.
The award highlights her diplomatic contributions at a time when the Maldives continues to strengthen international partnerships across key areas including trade, tourism, climate diplomacy and foreign investment.
