Aminath Shirna, who most recently served as Minister of State for Health, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Protection Agency, marking a significant leadership transition in the country’s welfare sector.
Her appointment was confirmed as the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare extended congratulations, expressing confidence in her ability to lead the agency and strengthen its delivery of essential social protection services.
Shirna brings extensive government experience to the role, having worked closely within the health sector on policy implementation and administrative oversight. Her tenure as State Minister placed her at the centre of key public service initiatives, equipping her with the institutional knowledge required to manage one of the Maldives’ most critical social support bodies.
The National Social Protection Agency is responsible for administering major welfare programmes, including financial aid schemes and assistance for vulnerable groups. With rising demand for efficient and transparent service delivery, the agency’s leadership is under increasing scrutiny.
Her transition from a senior policymaking role to the helm of NSPA signals a continued focus on aligning health and social protection priorities, as the government seeks to enhance accessibility and effectiveness of welfare services across the country.
