Addressing the community, President Muizzu highlighted the longstanding friendship and strong people-to-people ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, noting that several issues affecting Maldivians in Sri Lanka were discussed during official talks with the Sri Lankan government.

Among the key concerns raised were visa-related matters, with the President expressing confidence that continued cooperation between the two countries would help achieve sustainable solutions.

President Muizzu also outlined ongoing efforts to strengthen economic cooperation, including plans to establish a presence for Bank of Maldives in Sri Lanka and introduce Maldivian products to the Sri Lankan market. He further pointed to expanding collaboration in education and healthcare, alongside measures to improve services provided by the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka.

The meeting forms part of President Muizzu’s continued commitment to engage directly with Maldivian communities abroad during official overseas visits.
