First Lady urges students to uphold faith, nation and identity at Mianz anniversary

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed attended the 20th anniversary celebration of Mianz College, highlighting the institution’s contribution to developing capable and responsible future generations through education.

Speaking at the commemorative ceremony, the First Lady said Mianz College had achieved significant success within a relatively short period and commended its efforts in strengthening the nation’s educational landscape. She noted that the State welcomes the college’s contribution to building a strong foundation for nurturing young people who can contribute positively to the country’s future.

Emphasising the importance of education, the First Lady described development as the transformation of the individual and education as the key vehicle for achieving that transformation. She encouraged students to uphold the values and conduct expected of educated citizens, urging them to remain firm in their faith, loyal to the nation, committed to hard work, and proud of their Maldivian identity.

During the ceremony, Ahmed Muttaqi presented a commemorative gift to the First Lady on behalf of the institution. The event also featured the official launch of the college anthem and the inauguration of the Student Association Executive Committee.

As part of the celebrations, commemorative plaques were awarded to staff members in recognition of their long-standing service to the college, marking milestones of five, ten and fifteen years. The First Lady personally presented plaques to employees who had completed more than 15 years of dedicated service.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and senior officials, staff and students of Mianz College, marking two decades of the institution’s contribution to education in the Maldives.
