Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier Flynas has resumed scheduled operations to the Maldives, restoring direct air connectivity between Riyadh and Velana International Airport.
The airline will operate three weekly flights between Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and Velana International Airport, further strengthening travel links between the Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The first flight following the resumption, Flynas flight XY245, arrived from Riyadh and was welcomed with a ceremonial water salute and a traditional Bodu Beru performance. Passengers on the inaugural arriving flight, as well as those departing on the first outbound Flynas service, received special commemorative giveaways as part of the celebrations.
The return of Flynas is expected to support increasing travel demand from the Saudi market while providing passengers with more convenient connections between the Maldives and the Middle East. Saudi Arabia continues to be an important source market for Maldivian tourism, and the restoration of regular services is expected to improve accessibility for travellers from the region.

Airport operator Maldives Airports Company Limited said the resumption of Flynas operations reflects ongoing efforts to expand the Maldives’ international aviation network and strengthen the country’s position as a leading global tourism destination.
As the country’s primary international gateway, Velana International Airport continues to work closely with airline partners to enhance connectivity, improve passenger experience, and support the sustained growth of both the aviation and tourism sectors.
