Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched a new digital Harbour Portal aimed at modernising harbour operations, improving service efficiency, and strengthening coordination with vessel owners, operators, crews, and other maritime stakeholders.
The new platform is designed to simplify vessel registration and harbour management through a transparent and user-friendly system. It will also enable MACL to maintain organised records of vessels using the harbour, enhancing operational planning and coordination.
MACL is introducing the Harbour Portal in phases to ensure a smooth transition for harbour users. The first phase focuses on vessel registration and awareness, with information sessions already held for vessel owners. The company is also engaging directly with vessel crews to assist them with the registration process.
The registration period will remain open until the end of July, allowing vessel owners and operators adequate time to complete the required procedures.
After the registration phase concludes, all vessels using the harbour will be required to be registered and possess a valid permit. MACL said additional information on permit procedures and related requirements will be announced through its official communication channels before enforcement begins.
Once the system is fully operational, vessel owners and operators will be required to register their vessels, obtain a valid permit, and submit harbour usage requests through the Harbour Portal for approval before accessing harbour services.
MACL said the phased implementation is intended to give harbour users sufficient time, guidance, and support while improving transparency, coordination, and the long-term efficiency of harbour operations.
