Government Targets Full Digitalisation of Land Transport Services by End of August

By Hussain Shinan Published 6 hours ago

The government plans to fully digitalise all land transport services before the end of August as part of efforts to modernise public services and improve access through a single online platform, Economic Development and Trade Minister Mohamed Saeed has said.

Speaking during a sitting of the People’s Majlis on Monday, Saeed said work is progressing on a new digital system that will replace the existing platform used by the Ministry of Transport.

The minister, who is also responsible for the transport portfolio, said the new system is being developed under the government’s OneGov initiative, which aims to integrate public services into a single digital platform.

According to Saeed, the upgraded system is expected to address many of the difficulties currently experienced by members of the public when accessing transport-related services.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim and Maduvvari MP Ahmed Zahir during the parliamentary session.

“The project has been assigned to the OneGov system and a comprehensive vision has already been prepared. Our target is to fully digitalise all land transport services before the end of August,” Saeed told Parliament.

He added that the Ministry of Transport will formally announce the launch of the fully digital service once the necessary approvals are obtained from all relevant government agencies.

The government has been expanding the OneGov platform in recent months as part of a broader digital transformation programme aimed at reducing paperwork, shortening processing times and allowing citizens to access public services online.

Transport services expected to benefit from the initiative include a range of services currently administered by the Ministry of Transport, with the new system intended to provide a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for individuals and businesses.

The digitalisation of government services has been one of the administration’s key governance initiatives, with authorities seeking to improve efficiency by integrating services from multiple state institutions into a single online platform.
