The newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Maldives, His Excellency Hamad Mohammed Abdullah Al-Sanad Al-Dosari, formally presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday.

The ambassador was escorted to the ceremony in the traditional “Haiykolhu” cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

After accepting the Letter of Credence, President Muizzu officially welcomed Ambassador Al-Dosari as Qatar’s envoy to the Maldives.

During their meeting, the President and the ambassador discussed ways to expand cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, tourism, infrastructure development, financial assistance and investment. President Muizzu also highlighted his recent visit to Qatar, describing the longstanding ties between the two countries as close and brotherly.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The Maldives and Qatar established diplomatic relations on 26 May 1984, and the two countries have continued to deepen cooperation across a range of sectors over the past four decades.
