IGMH to close specialist OPD and clinical services for Independence Day holidays

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 2 hours ago

Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced that its Specialist Outpatient Department (OPD) and other clinical services will be temporarily closed on Sunday, 26 July, and Monday, 27 July, in observance of the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day celebrations.

In a public announcement issued on Friday, the hospital advised patients that specialist consultations and related outpatient clinical services will not be available during the two-day holiday period.

Despite the temporary closure of outpatient services, IGMH confirmed that inpatient (IPD) and emergency services will continue to operate around the clock without interruption, ensuring patients requiring urgent medical attention or hospital admission continue to receive care throughout the public holidays.

The hospital has advised members of the public to plan their appointments accordingly and contact 333-5335 for further information regarding the service changes.

IGMH is the Maldives’ largest government tertiary healthcare institution and the country’s main national referral hospital. Following the opening of its Multi-Speciality Surgical Wing in 2025, the hospital’s total bed capacity increased to 510 beds. It provides specialist healthcare services across numerous medical disciplines and serves patients from Malé, the Greater Malé Region and islands across the country.
