President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has welcomed constructive public feedback on his Independence Day address, saying his government’s reform agenda is already producing measurable results while reaffirming his commitment to tackling corruption and strengthening national development.
Speaking during the latest episode of the ‘Nation Chat’ podcast broadcast on Public Service Media (PSM), the President said his Independence Day speech was intended to reflect on the country’s past challenges, explain the measures being taken to address them, and outline the government’s long-term vision for the Maldives.
He stressed that discussions on foreign policy were essential because a nation’s independence is closely connected to its international relations and diplomatic engagement.
President Muizzu also said the administration’s efforts to combat corruption and address major social issues are now being reflected in national statistics, indicating that the government’s policies are beginning to produce tangible outcomes.
During the podcast, the President reiterated that every statement made during his Independence Day address was delivered sincerely and with the objective of implementing meaningful reforms that would benefit the country.
He also highlighted several urban development projects currently underway in Malé, including the ongoing Ring Road reconstruction. Upon completion, the project will include upgraded public facilities and additional finger jetties at existing speedboat terminals to improve passenger boarding, disembarkation and vessel berthing. The final phase of the Ring Road project will extend from the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) area to the Tsunami Monument.
