New children’s parks developed in N. Maalhendhoo and N. Kudafari have officially opened to the public, expanding recreational facilities for children and families in the two Noonu Atoll communities.
The government-funded parks were developed by Fenaka Corporation as part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s initiative to strengthen social well-being and provide safe recreational spaces across inhabited islands.
The Kudafari park was inaugurated by Kendhikulhudhoo MP Mohamed Afu Hamid and State Minister for Housing, Land and Urban Development Ahmed Salim. Members of the Kudafari Island Council and Women’s Development Committee joined residents and children at the opening ceremony.
In Maalhendhoo, the new park was inaugurated by Fenaka Corporation Managing Director Mohamed Afeef Hussain, MP Mohamed Afu Hamid and State Minister for Housing, Land and Urban Development Ahmed Salim. Representatives of the Maalhendhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee also attended alongside members of the community.
Fenaka was contracted on March 29 last year to develop the two parks. The projects included supplying and installing playground equipment and carrying out landscaping works.
The facilities are intended to give children safe spaces for play while creating areas where families can spend time together and strengthening recreational infrastructure in island communities.
The government aims to establish children’s parks across all inhabited islands of the Maldives, with efforts underway to complete the remaining projects by the end of this year.
