BML WeRun Corporates concludes Maldives’ first corporate relay race

By Ahmed Ashraf Published 3 hours ago

The inaugural BML WeRun Corporates has concluded at CROSSROADS Maldives, marking the successful completion of the country’s first corporate relay race.

Organised by WeRun Maldives in partnership with Bank of Maldives (BML), the event brought together employees from companies, government institutions and non-governmental organisations to promote healthier lifestyles while encouraging teamwork and collaboration in the workplace.

The competition featured five-member teams, with each runner completing a one-kilometre leg before handing the baton to the next teammate.

Organisers said the event also introduced a technological first for running competitions in the Maldives. A timing chip was integrated into the relay baton, allowing the system to accurately record each team’s overall completion time.

A total of 18 teams competed in the inaugural event, including 11 men’s teams and seven women’s teams.

In the men’s category, the Track and Field Association claimed the championship, followed by Runinmode Athletics as first runner-up. Bank of Maldives secured third place as second runner-up.

Runinmode Athletics won the women’s category, while CROSSROADS Island Sprinters finished as first runner-up and ADK Synergy took third place as second runner-up.

The event adds to efforts by Bank of Maldives to support sports and community initiatives aimed at encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles.

As the country’s largest bank, BML has supported a range of social and development programmes across the Maldives, with the inaugural WeRun Corporates extending that involvement into a new team-based sporting format designed specifically for organisations and their employees.
