President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have discussed strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates, with a particular focus on expanding economic and development cooperation.
The discussions took place during a phone call between the two leaders on Thursday, as both countries seek to deepen their longstanding partnership and identify new areas of cooperation that serve their mutual interests.
President Muizzu and Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed their commitment to advancing UAE-Maldives relations and expanding development-focused partnerships. They also explored opportunities aimed at supporting economic growth and improving the wellbeing and prosperity of the peoples of both countries.
The leaders further exchanged views on several issues of mutual interest, including ongoing efforts to strengthen regional security and stability.
The UAE has maintained close diplomatic and development relations with the Maldives, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, economic development and other key sectors.
The latest high-level engagement underscores the two governments’ continued focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation and broadening the partnership into areas that can contribute to the Maldives’ long-term development.
