MWSC senior management completes leadership training at MNDF Girifushi

By Hussain Shinan Published 36 minutes ago

Senior executives of Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) have completed a leadership development programme at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Girifushi Training Centre, as the utility company looks to strengthen management and decision-making across its operations.

MWSC Managing Director Hussain Fahumy announced the completion of the Leadership Enhancement Program on Sunday, describing the training as an important step towards developing stronger leadership within the company.

According to Fahumy, the programme was designed to build qualities including teamwork, discipline, strategic thinking and resilience among members of MWSC’s executive management.

He said the experience gained through the training would have practical value beyond the programme itself, particularly in strengthening how senior officials work together and make decisions within the company.

Fahumy said developing these capabilities would help MWSC build a stronger management team that is better prepared to respond to future challenges.

The programme is also expected to contribute towards improving the company’s internal operations and, ultimately, the quality and efficiency of services delivered to the public.

As the country’s primary water and sewerage utility provider, MWSC is responsible for essential services used by thousands of households and businesses, making effective management and operational preparedness particularly important to its day-to-day work.

The company has continued to expand its role beyond the Greater Malé region over the years, undertaking water and sewerage infrastructure projects in islands across the country as part of nationwide efforts to improve access to essential utility services.

Fahumy said the leadership programme would help develop executives capable of managing those evolving responsibilities while strengthening teamwork across different areas of the organisation.

He also thanked President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for the administration’s emphasis on developing capable national leaders.

Fahumy further expressed appreciation to the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Force and the leadership of MNDF for their support and cooperation in facilitating the programme at Girifushi.

The Girifushi Training Centre is one of MNDF’s principal training facilities and is used for a range of military and specialised training programmes. The leadership programme provided MWSC executives with an environment focused on discipline, teamwork and resilience, with the company seeking to translate those lessons into its corporate operations.
