Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) is set to take part in the Engineering Day Children’s Evening, with the utility company preparing an interactive stall aimed at introducing young participants to engineering and its role in everyday life.
MWSC said its stall will feature activities centred around learning, creativity and discovery, giving children an opportunity to explore engineering concepts in an engaging environment.
The initiative is intended to help young participants understand how engineering and innovation contribute to everyday services and infrastructure, while encouraging greater interest in the profession.
Rather than focusing solely on technical explanations, MWSC is promoting the stall as an interactive experience where children will be able to learn and participate in activities designed to make engineering more accessible and enjoyable.
Engineering plays a particularly important role in MWSC’s operations, ranging from water production and distribution to sewerage networks and the development and maintenance of utility infrastructure.
As the primary water and sewerage utility serving the Greater Malé region, MWSC employs engineering expertise across a range of technical fields to maintain essential services. The company is also involved in the development of water and sewerage infrastructure in islands outside the capital.
Participation in the Children’s Evening provides MWSC with an opportunity to demonstrate some of these applications to younger audiences while highlighting how engineers contribute to infrastructure and essential public services.
The event also seeks to encourage curiosity among children about how technology, engineering and innovation are used to solve practical problems and support the development of communities.
