The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced Aggregate Base Course (ABC) laying on Segment 1 of Ameenee Magu, marking another major milestone in the ongoing road rehabilitation project.
According to MTCC, ABC works began Monday night following the completion of sub-base works on the segment.
Once the ABC layer is completed, MTCC will move directly to asphalt paving, bringing the road closer to reopening with an improved surface.

Both the ABC laying and asphalt paving stages are scheduled to be completed within this week.
Segment 1 covers the section of Ameenee Magu from Izzudheen Magu, near Voice of Maldives, to the park adjacent to Dharumavantha Hospital.
The government awarded MTCC the road repair programme in June, with works targeting deteriorated sections of Ameenee Magu as part of efforts to improve road conditions and durability in Malé.
