President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said stability, development and security form the core philosophy of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), as the party holds its National Congress to elect members to its Higher Council.
Addressing the opening of the congress, President Muizzu, who also serves as PNC President, called on members elected to the Higher Council to place national interests above personal interests and strengthen the party’s contribution to nation-building.
President Muizzu said the PNC entered the political arena with around 3,000 members and has since expanded to nearly 80,000 members. He thanked party members for their efforts in strengthening the PNC.
The President said the government’s presidential manifesto and policies are built around three central pillars: stability, development and security.
“Every aspect of our policy, including the manifesto presented to the people during the presidential election and all government policies, is interconnected with these three pillars. When communicating with the public or explaining our policies, it must be conveyed that our philosophy is to bring stability, development, and security to the country. We are a responsible political party. We will prioritize national interests over any individual’s personal interests,” President Muizzu said.
He added that the government’s foreign policy is also shaped by the same principles, stressing that the party must work with sincerity and a clear commitment towards advancing the interests of the Maldives.
President Muizzu concluded by urging PNC members to maintain unity and solidarity as the party strengthens its organisation and elects its new Higher Council.
