Dhiraagu has launched a series of customer offers to mark its 38th anniversary, including 38GB of free mobile data, complimentary international calling minutes and a 38-day rewards campaign.
The telecommunications company announced the anniversary offers at a press conference held at its head office on Thursday, as it marked 38 years of operations in the Maldives.
Both prepaid and postpaid customers are eligible to receive 38GB of complimentary data as an anniversary gift. The free data can be claimed through the DhiraaguApp.
Prepaid customers will also be offered 38 free international direct dialling (IDD) minutes. The allowance can be used for calls to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Philippines and Indonesia and can also be activated through the DhiraaguApp.
The anniversary celebrations also include 38 days of rewards through selected EliteClub partners. Under the campaign, customers will be able to access daily vouchers from 12 participating businesses covering dining, retail, groceries and accommodation.
Each participating partner will make 38 vouchers available every day on a first-come, first-served basis. Active prepaid and postpaid customers can claim one voucher from each partner during the campaign through the 38th Anniversary Rewards Portal available on the DhiraaguApp.
Alongside the anniversary rewards, Dhiraagu unveiled AiV, a new artificial intelligence-powered call handling assistant designed to manage incoming calls on behalf of customers and reduce the chances of important calls being missed. Customers can subscribe to the service through the company’s app.
Dhiraagu is also offering eligible residential fixed broadband customers a free upgrade from legacy fibre routers. The replacement is being offered with a 24-month commitment.
The announcements were made during the first press conference attended by Dhiraagu’s new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Valde Ferradaz, since assuming the position.
Ferradaz reflected on the development of the Maldives over the company’s 38-year history and said Dhiraagu had played an important role in expanding connectivity and supporting the country’s wider digital transformation.
He said the company’s development had been made possible through the support of its customers, employees, partners, shareholders, regulators and the government.
Ferradaz also paid tribute to past and present Dhiraagu employees, saying their work, talent and commitment had helped build the company into what it is today.
Looking ahead, he said Dhiraagu intends to continue investing in connectivity, digital innovation and emerging technologies as demand for digital services continues to grow across the country.
Dhiraagu’s history stretches back to 1988, when the company was established as the Maldives’ first telecommunications operator. Over the following decades, the country’s telecommunications sector has undergone a major transformation, moving from limited telephone connectivity to widespread mobile, fibre broadband and digital services.
The company’s 38th anniversary campaign places much of its focus on giving those services back to existing customers, with free data, international calling and partner rewards forming the centrepiece of this year’s celebrations.
