Global Dukaan has introduced a new payment option in collaboration with Maldives Post, allowing Maldivian customers to pay in Maldivian Rufiyaa when shopping from major Indian e-commerce platforms.
Under the new arrangement, customers shopping through Global Dukaan can select the “Pay through Maldives Post” option during checkout and follow the instructions provided to complete their purchase.
Eligible customers will receive a payment link through the Global Dukaan application, enabling them to settle the amount in Maldivian Rufiyaa.
The service provides an alternative to international payment methods that require customers to make payments in foreign currency. The introduction of MVR payments is expected to make online shopping more convenient and simplify transactions for Maldivian customers.
The payment facility builds on the existing partnership between Maldives Post and India Post, which enables products purchased through Global Dukaan to be delivered across the Maldives.
Customers using the service do not need an Indian address to place orders. Purchases can instead be processed through Global Dukaan and delivered to locations across the country through the postal network.
Global Dukaan provides access to several major Indian and international e-commerce marketplaces, including Amazon, Myntra, Flipkart, Nykaa, Nykaa Fashion and IKEA.
Products available through these platforms cover a broad range of categories, including fashion and lifestyle goods, electronics and accessories, home and kitchen products, beauty items and wellness products.
The platform has gained popularity among Maldivian consumers seeking access to products available through Indian online marketplaces.
Maldives Post said the introduction of the new local currency payment facility represents another step towards expanding online shopping opportunities and improving Maldivians’ access to global marketplaces.
The combination of MVR payments and nationwide delivery could also reduce some of the barriers traditionally faced by Maldivian consumers when purchasing products from overseas e-commerce platforms.
