Singapore Airlines has recognised the Ramp Services team of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) for its contribution to improving ground handling safety, aircraft turnaround efficiency and operational performance.
The recognition was conveyed by Edwin Chiang, Regional Vice President of Singapore Airlines, in appreciation of the team’s efforts to maintain efficient and reliable ground operations.
MACL announced the recognition in a social media post, highlighting the role played by its Ramp Services personnel in supporting the airline’s operations at Velana International Airport (VIA).
According to the airport operator, Chiang acknowledged the team’s work in strengthening safety standards, improving aircraft turnaround times and ensuring the smooth handling of daily flight operations.

Ramp services form an essential part of airport ground handling, covering activities such as aircraft marshalling, baggage and cargo handling, aircraft servicing and coordination between ground personnel and flight crews.
Efficient ramp operations are particularly important for international airlines, as delays in ground handling can affect flight schedules, aircraft availability and passenger connections.
At Velana International Airport, ground handling teams are responsible for coordinating multiple activities within limited turnaround windows while maintaining strict aviation safety requirements.
MACL said the recognition also reflects the strength of its working relationship with Singapore Airlines, one of the international carriers connecting the Maldives with major destinations through Singapore.

The airline’s services provide an important connection for travellers flying between the Maldives and destinations across Asia and other international markets through Singapore’s Changi Airport.
The recognition comes as Velana International Airport continues efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and service standards amid growing demand for international air travel.
MACL has been working to enhance airport infrastructure and operational capacity to accommodate increasing passenger movements and airline activity.
The company said the dedication of its Ramp Services team continues to support its partnership with Singapore Airlines and the delivery of safe and efficient airport operations.
