Dhiraagu opens applications for 2027 apprenticeship programme

By Hussain Shinan Published 2 hours ago

Dhiraagu has opened applications for its 2027 Apprenticeship Programme, offering young Maldivians an opportunity to gain practical work experience, develop professional skills and earn an income while undergoing training.

The programme, one of the company’s longstanding corporate social responsibility initiatives, is open to Maldivians aged between 18 and 30 who have completed their A Levels and are not currently employed full-time.

Applications will remain open until 30 November 2026.

The apprenticeship provides participants with structured workplace training across several departments within Dhiraagu, allowing them to gain first-hand experience of working in a corporate environment.

Training opportunities are available in areas including analytics and business intelligence, brand and marketing communications, cloud and IT services, cybersecurity, financial accounting, human resources, revenue assurance and business control.

Participants can also gain experience in corporate services, sales, stores and procurement, providing opportunities for young people with different educational backgrounds and career interests.

The 2027 intake will be offered at Dhiraagu’s headquarters in Malé, as well as its operational centres in Kulhudhuffushi City, Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll and Laamu Atoll.

By extending the programme beyond the capital, Dhiraagu is providing opportunities for young people in different parts of the country to gain professional experience without necessarily having to relocate to Malé.

In addition to practical training within their assigned departments, apprentices will participate in sessions conducted by Dhiraagu’s in-house specialists.

These sessions will focus on developing workplace and interpersonal skills, including time management, personal organisation, project planning, communication and presentation techniques.

The programme is designed to help participants understand professional responsibilities, adapt to workplace expectations and build skills that can support their future careers.

Dhiraagu first introduced its apprenticeship programme in 2009, making it one of the earliest structured corporate apprenticeship initiatives in the Maldives.

Since its introduction, 312 young Maldivians have enrolled in the programme, with former participants subsequently pursuing careers within Dhiraagu and other organisations across the country.

The initiative forms part of the telecommunications company’s broader efforts to support youth development and improve employment readiness among young Maldivians.

With increasing demand for technical and professional skills across the Maldives, workplace training programmes offer an alternative route for young people seeking practical experience before entering full-time employment.

Dhiraagu said the programme aims to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue careers in a range of industries, while allowing them to learn directly from experienced professionals.

Eligible applicants can obtain further information and submit their applications through the company’s official website at https://www.dhiraagu.com.mv/about-us/careers/apprenticeship-programme.

The deadline for applications is 30 November 2026.
