Ahmadhiyya International School and the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) Hulhumalé will face off in the final of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) FinLit Fest Debate Competition, after the tournament got under way yesterday.
The competition was held across six rounds, with four teams taking part, including teams from CHSE Hulhumalé, Villa International High School and Ahmadhiyya International School.
Following the preliminary rounds, Ahmadhiyya International School and CHSE Hulhumalé secured their places in the final.
During yesterday’s debates, participants spoke on a range of economic topics, as well as socio-economic issues.
The MMA FinLit Fest Debate Competition is the second such competition held under the “MMA FinLit Fest”, a financial literacy initiative launched by the authority in 2025.
According to the MMA, the competition aims to increase financial literacy among young people and students, and to encourage greater youth participation in economic issues.
The authority said the competition also seeks to encourage participants to think more deeply about such matters, while helping them develop their public speaking skills.
Through initiatives such as the FinLit Fest, the MMA continues to promote financial awareness among the younger generation.
The final of the MMA FinLit Fest Debate Competition will be held on Tuesday, 10 November, with Ahmadhiyya International School and CHSE Hulhumalé competing for the title.
