In a proactive move to strengthen bilateral relations, Maldives’ Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, engaged in discussions with Sultan bin Salim bin Said Al Habsi, Oman’s Minister of Finance, to explore potential investment opportunities in the Maldives. This significant meeting took place during Minister Khaleel’s visit to Oman, which began on December 10.
The talks focused on various investment prospects, development policies, and strategies aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two nations, as reported by the Maldives Foreign Ministry. This visit highlights the Maldives’ commitment to fostering strong economic ties with Oman.
Invited by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Minister Khaleel’s agenda includes efforts to fortify Maldives-Oman relations across several sectors including trade, tourism, education, and investment. Enhancing people-to-people connections was also a key topic of discussion.
Throughout the visit, Minister Khaleel is scheduled to meet additional officials from the Omani government to delve deeper into ways to bolster bilateral cooperation and relations further.
The Minister’s trip is expected to conclude on December 13, and he is accompanied by Dr. Hala Hameed, the Secretary for Bilateral Relations, along with Senior Under Secretary Fathimath Naeema from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This visit represents a crucial step in expanding the Maldives’ international partnerships and attracting investment to support its economic development.
