Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau has affirmed that police officers are subject to the same legal standards as any other citizen. In response to inquiries from the local media outlet ‘Dhen’ regarding potential misconduct involving Rajnee Shuaib, head of the Economic Crime Department, the Commissioner emphasized that any police officer found to have acquired a flat through illegal means will be subject to investigation.
The comments were made in light of allegations that Rajnee Shuaib, who is currently leading an inquiry into the Housing Development Corporation land theft case, may have unlawfully obtained a Vinares flat. The Commissioner stated, “Should any individual be found to have acquired a flat or land illegally during this process, we will conduct an investigation and take appropriate action.”
Social media platforms are abuzz with claims that Rajnee Shuaib and his wife, members of the investigative team examining unlawful land distribution and document forgery, have themselves been implicated in receiving Vinares flats illicitly. Police spokesperson Ahmed Shifan has confirmed on platform ‘X’ that this matter is under formal investigation.
