A young man severely injured in a collision last night involving a police car and a motorcycle in Hulhumale Phase 2 has been placed on a ventilator as his health condition deteriorates.
According to a police statement issued today, the injured individual was initially treated at Hulhumale Hospital. However, as his condition worsened, he was transferred to IGMH Hospital, where he is now undergoing treatment with ventilator support.
Police reports indicate that the motorcycle involved was operated by an individual whose license had been suspended on the 21st of this month due to violations of the Land Transport Act. The police vehicle involved also suffered considerable damage in the incident.
The police have expressed concern and regret over such hazardous accidents, emphasizing that extensive efforts and resources are being deployed to prevent similar occurrences and enhance road safety.
Moreover, an investigation is currently underway to determine if there was any negligence by the officer driving the police vehicle at the time of the accident. The police have assured that all necessary steps will be taken to avert future incidents of this nature.
