President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his condolences by signing the condolence book at the Indian High Commission in the Maldives, honoring the memory of former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
In his message, President Muizzu reflected on Manmohan Singh’s passing at 92, describing him as a seasoned politician known for his prudent decisions that earned widespread respect. He fondly remembered Singh’s landmark visit to the Maldives in 2011, noting how it reinforced the amicable ties between the two nations and contributed to hopes for economic and social advancement.
Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi following a sudden decline in his health. Dr. Singh, an esteemed economist who dedicated many years to public service, served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014. During his tenure as the 14th Prime Minister, he was instrumental in crafting India’s economic strategies.
