President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu embarked on a three-day tour of Raa Atoll this morning, aiming to engage directly with local communities and assess development needs across the region. The itinerary includes visits to eleven islands: Angolhitheemu, Hulhudhuffaaru, Innamaadhoo, Kinolhas, Maakurathu, Maduvvari, Fainu, Rasgetheem, Rasmadhoo, and Ungoofaaru.
Throughout the tour, President Muizzu is scheduled to meet with island councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and heads of local institutions to discuss pressing community concerns and development priorities. These consultations are part of the President’s broader initiative, launched in 2024, to visit all Maldivian atolls and engage with local councils to better understand and address the unique challenges faced by each community.
In addition to these meetings, the President will inaugurate several development projects and introduce new services across the islands. Notably, he plans to delegate the installation of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to local councils, fulfilling his electoral promise to establish ATM services on all inhabited islands. This initiative aims to provide Maldivian citizens with easier and more convenient access to banking services. Furthermore, the President will lay the foundation stones for new council office buildings and launch services for the issuance of identification cards and passports, enhancing administrative efficiency and accessibility for residents.
Accompanying the President on this tour are ministers and senior officials from various government institutions, underscoring the administration’s commitment to collaborative and inclusive development. The visit to Raa Atoll is part of a series of tours aimed at fostering direct communication between the government and local communities, ensuring that development initiatives align with the aspirations and needs of the people.
President Muizzu is expected to conclude his visit and return to Malé on Thursday.
