Bloodshed in Café Kitchen: Bangladeshi and Nepali Worker Clash with Sharp Weapons

A violent confrontation between two foreign employees in the kitchen of Thaseeru Café on Maaveyo Magu has resulted in serious injuries. The incident occurred today around 12:10 PM, as reported by the Maldives Police Service.

According to authorities, a Bangladeshi kitchen helper and a Nepali chef engaged in a physical fight, attacking each other with sharp objects. Both individuals sustained injuries and were promptly transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for medical treatment. The Bangladeshi man’s condition is reported to be serious.

Graphic footage circulating on social media shows the aftermath of the altercation, with blood visible on the café floor. Another video depicts the two men grappling and attacking each other.

The police have stated that they are actively investigating the case to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. No further details have been released at this time.

Thaseeru Café is situated on Maaveyo Magu, adjacent to Best Buy Mobiles. The establishment has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.

This event has raised concerns about workplace safety and the well-being of foreign workers in the Maldives. Authorities are expected to provide more information as the investigation progresses.
