Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) took part in the “Roadha Saafu” airport clean-up event, a nationwide initiative led by the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, and the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage. The event, which saw over 500 MACL employees from various departments participating, aims to maintain a clean and welcoming environment at Velana International Airport (VIA) for both passengers and staff.
The initiative is part of MACL’s ongoing efforts under the “Green Airport” program, which includes multiple cleaning events throughout the year to ensure the airport remains a hygienic and pleasant place for travelers. The company is committed to keeping the airport environment pristine, with regular efforts like this one contributing to its goal of enhancing passenger experience.
Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar inaugurated the “Roadha Saafu” program, highlighting the significance of these clean-up efforts as a reflection of the country’s culture, traditions, and unity. Speaking at the event, Minister Shareef noted that such community-driven initiatives demonstrate the strength of unity among the Maldivian people, especially as the country prepares for the holy month of Ramadan.
“The unity among the people of Maldives is evident in such social programs. Maldivians have always come together for such occasions, working together in a spirit of cooperation,” he said. “The large turnout today is a clear sign of this unity.”
The “Roadha Saafu” clean-up initiative is organized across five different groups, with participation from various ministries and state-owned enterprises, making it a truly collective effort to maintain cleanliness and promote community spirit during the Ramadan season.
Through events like these, the Maldives continues to showcase its commitment to environmental responsibility and community collaboration, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
